According to the Chinese funeral culture, when a person entered heaven after death, the paper offerings are used as supplies for the dead. Relatives can send them by burning, to keep him(her) warm and fed. The living imagines that the dead would have a good life in the heaven, so that can be relieved.

Beyond Heaven created my imagination about paper offerings. I placed paper offerings in the real space and made them look warm, vibrant, true still life. After that I burned some of the photos, just like burning paper offerings.

The essence of image is projection the content of it. When we see an image, it arouses the memory and imagination of it, so that we regard the image as the replacement of the content. Beyond Heaven tries to placed it not only in a neutral space but actively involved inn it, to explore the relationship among images, imagination and death.
