Es gibt keinen see
Video, 10’00’’, 2025
Es gibt keine See is a short film I created during my residency in Plüschow, Germany. I constructed a cardboard model of my room, and filmed my shadow wandering through the wilderness, blurring the lines between real and fictional spaces. The work draws inspiration from the Chinese fable ‘The Monkeys Retrieving the Moon’ and a vanished lake in Plüschow. It continues my exploration of absence, spatial memory, ghostly phenomena, and the psychological dimensions of moving images. Through experimental use of the camera’s perspective, the film follows the shadow, drawn by light, as it traverses the night and wilderness, attempting to steal the moon—an action suspended between dream, hallucination, and poetic resistance.
